Proflora has been developed to strengthen your horse’s healthy intestinal flora and works as a prebiotic and probiotic.

The intestinal flora consist of a delicate balance of good and bad bacteria. When the acidity in the horse’s intestines changes (stress, antibiotics, a change in feed, etc.), the intestinal flora become disturbed and bad bacteria can gain the upper hand, resulting in loose stools. Proflora supplements the good bacteria and increases the resistance in the intestines. It helps to maintain the microbial balance during periods that have a negative influence on the digestive system. Proflora optimises digestion, as a result of which a greater intake of nutrientsis possible and it is easier to meet your horse’s energy requirements. This is an important advantage not only for sport horses but also for older animals that lose weight quickly.
The product can be used safely both in foals and also in adult horses.

When is Proflora used?

  • In horses with chronic or acute loose stools
  • For the prevention of loose stools with changes in feed or courses of treatment with antibiotics
  • At the time of the change-over from and to going out to graze
  • Horses with a delicate digestive system at times of stress
  • To build up the intestinal flora again after a period of fasting (for example after colic)
  • In foals that are susceptible to diarrhoea.
  • To stimulate efficient digestion

Proflora acts as a probiotic due to the presence of yeasts (Saccharomyces cerevisiae).  Only high-quality sources are used that are readily absorbable. Saccharomyces helps to maintain the natural balance of the intestinal flora. The inactive, freeze-dried yeasts in Proflora are activated after dissolving in water.

Fructooligosaccharides (prebiotics) are an ideal energy source for bacteria and help to support the good intestinal flora.

Furthermore, Proflora also contains red beet and Stevia extract. Stevia is a natural sweetener and ensures that Proflora, once dissolved in a little water, is very tasty and therefore is absorbed readily with just a small portion of concentrated feed or can be administered directly into the mouth with a syringe.
